BSNL Optical network

	Incumbent operator with huge optical infrastructure covering 400,000 R kms.
	More than 20,000 Network elements operational
	Coverage all across the country
	10 large rings of STM16 all over the Country using STM-1/4 – Forming National Backbone in phase I.
	Further 32 sub rings based on STM16 have also been implemented in phase II
	DWDM network is planned on major routes as an overlay network on similar routes to increase traffic capacity.
	Further DWDM deployment on the balance routes and SDH requirement will be with DWDM equipment to act as feeders.

SDH Deployment -MTNL

	First ever SDH trial link & large scale network deployed in the Country
	Trial link in Delhi between KB-JP-NP, whereas large scale deployment in Mumbai Metro junction Network
	MTNL Mumbai has deployed 12 rings of STM16 connecting more than 80 exchanges all over Mumbai using STM-1/4.
